The bridge, located at Barisal Division, South ofBangladesh, spans across Kocha River and stretches about 3.5 km, which includesone grand bridge (about 1.5km) in a variable-section continuous beam structurebuilt with prestressed concrete, the main part being 61m+8×109m+61m. Theproject was designed according to the standards for Grade II Road with 2-lanedual carriageway at a design speed of 60km/h, a standard subgrade/pavementwidth being 13.4/10.9m, and paved with asphalt concrete. This project was thefirst internationally-aided highway and bridge consultancy project for foreignaids open for bidding by the Ministry of Commerce since the reform of theforeign aid system and also ATCDI’s first bidding for such a type ofconsultancy service. It will certainly further enhance ATCID’s capability to“go global”, and marks a new milestone in the expansion of overseas service.
